It has been working perfectly well but switched on today and got what looks like a terminal failure of the display see attached photo. P x I had that kind of problem on my C70 but vertical lines, opened it up and disconnected the ribbon cable gave a clean and replaced it, plug it in and out a couple of times and it worked, Ive done twice.
Moodymike Old Salt Posts: Same here, dismantle and check ribbon connectors. Has worked well for last two seasons. This is well discussed on YBW if you google it. Salty Old Salt Posts: I too had a problem with an old RL70 mono display and initially sent it to some firm advertising on eBay who claimed to carry out repairs. They said that the Printed Circuit Boards inside were all corroded due to water ingress and that it was not repairable. They sent it back along with their invoice.
The screws securing the two halves that would have to have been removed for them to see the internals had not been moved, so they could not possibly have seen the PCBs, so I queried their invoice and got my money back.
I then sent it to Raymarine who fitted a secondhand screen from a salvaged plotter as that one was no longer in production, and it continued to work perfectly until I upgraded to a colour plotter and gave the old one away.
Raymarines charges were fair, they fixed the problem instead of giving up, and there was no mention of any corrosion on the PCBs. Thanks for all your comments.
As the unit has been installed internally all its life and I am not reliant on it at present I will return to Raymarine for repair rather than dismantle it myself.
Trapeze Artist First Mate Posts: I had similar, though mine was horizontal rainbow stripes. As I remember it, the circuit board that the screen multiplug is on is a small separate board retained by a plastic clip.
If the board comes off the clip and it does! I think some contacts are making contact and others aren't. Therefore depending which contacts are wonky, the symptoms will be slightly different.I have some good news for you.

But I can sell you a new display that will work with your existing wiring. So I turned to the internet. I contacted the man and found out that his name is Dan Gerhardt.
I sent Dan our display and a couple of days later he sent me a picture of it with the new LCD. I plugged that into the eBay search bar, bought it and paid. A couple of days later, I had the display back and it works beautifully! Turns out he works on those, too. These prices are as of October Dan gave me permission to share his info here on The Boat Galley. NOTE: I have no connection to him other than as an extremely satisfied customer. We had the same problem with our ST autopilot.
We finally found a place online to buy a replacement. It was not a hard to replace. We can finally see the numbers. I sent him my Raymarine S3 course computer. I went with the S3G, it was a simple replacement and is still working today! Great information. We have several instruments that have got screen issues. Be great to get them repaired rather than buying a new one. If your RayMarine Chart Plotter is losing position and takes more than a few seconds to find its position when you start it up, it can be fixed for about 50 cents.
There is a CR 3V Lithium battery in there that is easy to replace and costs about 50 cents. That is the same battery you will find in the key bob for your car.

As you and many others have experienced, when I have approached Raymarine with a problem with my vintage instruments, all the want to do is up-sell me with their newest and greatest and do not support their older equipment.

Probably touchscreen with buttons. The 2d works for me, I haven't seen the newer Bermuda maps which is where I am exclusively. All other items are standalone, would welcome thoughts on an integrated package.

Post: Marc, Unfortunately, installation of any of the currently offered MFDs will require modifications to the helm, as none of Raymarine's currently manufactured MFDs is designed to exactly fit within the footprint and cutouts of the C80 MFDs which are presently installed onboard the boat. Given - the depths which you have indicated that the vessel will be operating in, - and the desire to continue use of the currently installed transducer, - and that you have an operating DSM, and - the desire to have buttons in addition to touch screen controls it would be recommended that you consider installation of an E eS98 MFD and an E eS97 MFD.
